This bold, black house is nestled within a subtropical forest in Coconut Grove, Miami’s oldest neighborhood. All of the main living spaces are placed on the second floor to take advantage of the canopy experience afforded by the home’s lush setting. Even the swimming pool has been elevated to sunny location on the upper floor. The Wildwood Residence continues to advance the firm’s aesthetic that is exemplified in its previous designs for the Tuckman, Berkowitz and Tarpon Residences.
The footprint of the home weaves around specimen trees resulting in an unusual, yet balanced design. The darker tones of the house respond to it shaded context and effectively camouflage the scale of the home.
